What is the construction of PVC roofing?
Installing PVC roofing requires the necessary experience in installing PVC and, of course, the right knowledge about the materials. PVC roofing is laid with several additional layers, according to a standard construction method. You can read these here:
Carrier and roof boarding
At the bottom is the support with OSB places on it. The support consists of wooden or concrete beams.
Insulation and vapor barrier
A so-called vapor barrier is placed on top of the OSB boards. This vapor barrier prevents condensation in the insulation materials above. The insulation can consist of material such as PIR or PUR.
PVC film installation
The strips of PVC are rolled out and carefully cut to size. The strips are attached to the insulation material using a hair dryer that mechanically heats the adhesive and then ensures adhesion. The seams of the PVC roofing are welded together. Kim fixation is applied to prevent the corners of the roofing from loosening. Reinforced strips are mechanically anchored to the upstand to form a strong unit and provide additional protection against roofing tears.

- EPDM roofing: An environmentally friendly and increasingly popular form of roofing is EPDM roofing. It consists of synthetic rubber, which makes it highly elastic and resistant to wide temperature variations. This makes it less likely to crack and longer lasting.
- TPO roofing: TPO is an elastic, durable and environmentally friendly alternative to PVC roofing on flat roofs. It is a type of hybrid roofing membrane that combines the good properties of EPDM and PVC. It can be either glued or welded by a specialist roofer.
Features of PVC roofing
PVC roofing consists of Poly Vinyl Chloride, which is a plastic. PVC is well suited to flat roofs or roofs with a slight pitch. It is resistant to weather conditions and chemicals, but on the other hand not to organic agents (bitumen or polystyrene).
This form of roofing is thermoplastic because plasticizers and Uv stabilizers are added. The pliability of the material allows the roofing to shrink and expand with changes in temperature. The light weight of PVC ensures that there is little to no additional load on the construction of the roof.
